Why Our Precision Machine Shop Makes Time for In-Person Customer Visits

Like most precision machine shops, we rely on digital communication every day. Whether it’s email, phone calls, or video meetings, these tools help us collaborate on CNC machining solutions in real time—no matter where our customers are located.

But there’s still something important about showing up in person. A handshake. A quick tour. A conversation that doesn’t need a screen or a Zoom link. At Coastal Machine & Supply, we’ve found that when we make time for face-to-face visits, we walk away with stronger relationships and better project outcomes.

A Structured Approach to Customer Visits

Over the past year, we’ve taken what used to be a casual part of our business and made it more intentional. Today, our customer visit program is built around geography to make sure we’re showing up consistently:

  • Local customers (within 20 miles of our Louisiana shop): visited every three weeks
  • Regional customers (like those in Texas): visited once per quarter
  • Out-of-state customers (like California and Washington): visited twice a year

These visits are now part of our regular schedule, with someone from our precision machine shop out visiting customers every week. It has become an integral part of how we operate.

And while we love a good video call, there are things that only happen when you’re on-site. We might spot a part that’s been giving you trouble. We might be able to talk through a new project and help determine whether it’s a good fit for our shop. And sometimes, a visit turns into a conversation that leads to CNC machining solutions you didn’t know you needed.

Why These In-Person Visits Are So Important

These visits give us a chance to meet new team members, review open orders and quotes, and build the kind of rapport that’s hard to establish over email. We talk shop, but we also talk about families, backgrounds, and where people are from. It’s the kind of human connection that helps everything else work better.

It also works both ways. If you haven’t been to our precision machine shop in Carencro, LA, we’d love to have you stop by. Seeing our shop in person gives you a clear picture of the kind of work we do—and how seriously we take quality. Our shop is clean, organized, and process-driven, and our team takes a lot of pride in the work we do here.

Custom Machining Services That Start with Relationships

Whether we’re visiting your shop or welcoming you into ours, it all comes back to the same goal: building genuine relationships and delivering complex machining services that make a difference.
