How Coastal Machine and Supply Excels in Oil and Gas Machining

At Coastal Machine and Supply, parts come in all shapes and sizes. Because of the industries we serve, including oil and gas, space and aerospace and defense, we routinely handle everything from complex large-part machining to small, intricate precision components.

When you partner with us for custom machining services, our extensive range of part sizes results in fewer vendors to manage, reduced risk, and better overall outcomes. Here’s how we make it all possible.

A True Mix of Part Sizes

When we say we machine a wide range of parts, we mean it. Our capabilities include:

  • Small precision components: as small as 1″ × 1″
  • Large milled parts: up to 30″ × 30″
  • Turned components:
    • Diameters up to 12.5” with lengths reaching 240”
    • Diameters up to 16” for components 20” to 120”
    • Diameters up to 26” for parts 18” and shorter

Our custom machining services are supported by equipment designed for both precision and scale, including our four Mazak vertical machining centers. We’ve also invested heavily in tooling and fixturing to support this full spectrum of work. We know that size doesn’t dictate complexity, and both ends of the scale demand precision.

Industries That Demand Precision

large-part machining

The oil and gas, space, aerospace, and defense industries rely on Coastal Machine and Supply to deliver precision each and every time. In environments where there is no room for error, our team operates with confidence and discipline.

From rocket brackets and avionics trays for the space industry to subsea and downhole crossover tools for oil and gas applications, we deliver accuracy where it matters most. While requirements may differ by industry, size, tolerance, material, or inspection, customers trust Coastal to meet them all.

Expanding Capabilities to Match Customer Needs

When we first opened, Coastal Machine and Supply focused primarily on small to medium-sized parts. As our customer needs evolved, we saw an opportunity to support a wider range of projects, including larger, more complex parts. And we built our capabilities accordingly.

Expanding into this work required thoughtful planning and long-term investment. We added equipment designed to accommodate a broad range of part sizes and developed the processes, tooling, and expertise to ensure consistent precision at every scale.

Today, that commitment enables Coastal to support a broader spectrum of customer requirements with confidence, delivering reliable results across both small and large machining applications.

Simplifying Your Supply Chain

When customers can rely on one partner for parts of any size, the entire manufacturing process becomes more efficient. Coastal supports both large part machining for assembly components and the smaller subcomponents that go into them, delivering a true one-stop-shop experience.

By consolidating work with Coastal, our customers benefit from fewer handoffs, fewer vendors, and stronger continuity from start to finish. The result is:

  • Greater consistency across components
  • Improved quality
  • Reduced lead times

Precision at Scale in Large-Part Machining

Large-scale CNC machining presents unique challenges, particularly when it comes to controlling part movement and minimizing material distortion.

The reality is that parts can respond differently once machining begins, which is why the Coastal team takes a transparent, methodical approach from the start. Our team plans for these variables through proven processes, careful fixturing, and a disciplined inspection strategy.

Large parts that carry tight tolerances and intricate features introduce challenges in maintaining the needed precision. Coastal is built for this work, including thin-wall sections and complex geometries. We routinely produce parts requiring critical callouts such as concentricity, flatness and parallelism.

Whether it’s plate work or long turned components, larger and heavier parts often introduce additional positioning and stability challenges. Coastal is fully equipped for large-part machining, producing components exceeding 120” in length, with flexible setups that can even extend beyond the walls of our building when required.

Consistency in Small Part Machining

Smaller parts bring their own level of complexity. A compact component doesn’t always mean less machining time. In fact, intricate small parts often require even greater precision and attention to detail. Producing consistent, small parts requires:

  • Specialized tooling
  • Lighter depths of cut
  • Highly controlled fixturing

Clearance, tool access, and setup accuracy become especially important when features are tight and tolerances are unforgiving. Coastal has deep experience machining small, detail-rich components, using the right approach to reach difficult features while preserving accuracy and surface finish. The result is reliable quality, repeatability, and confidence in every part we deliver.

Coastal is Built to Support Your Most Demanding Work

Range isn’t about size alone. It’s about control, experience, and accountability. Coastal machines complex parts, no matter the size, with the precision and consistency your team depends on, so you can move forward with confidence.
